一般描述
人白细胞介素-6（hIL-6）产生于 大肠杆菌中，并通过标准色谱技术进行纯化。
特异性
重组人IL-6对小鼠和人细胞有效。
IL-6是一种26 kD的蛋白质，也被称为B细胞刺激因子2（BSF-2，BCDF）、干扰素-β2 (IFN-β2)、杂交瘤/浆细胞瘤生长因子（H（P）GF）和肝细胞刺激因子，其可由许多细胞类型（例如T细胞、单核细胞、成纤维细胞、内皮细胞）产生。 IL-6可诱导活化的B细胞最终成熟为可产生抗体的细胞（B细胞分化活性）。 Il-6（肝细胞刺激活性）可诱导肝急性期反应。 研究表明，IL-6和IL-3协同作用支持造血干细胞的增殖（造血活性）， 尽管IL-6被称为IFN-β2，但它没有抗病毒活性。 在许多细胞类型中发现了靶向IL-6的高亲和力受体。
应用
重组人IL-6是一种鼠类和人B细胞的生长因子。它可用于替代制备鼠和人杂交瘤细胞时的饲养细胞。
生化/生理作用
白介素-6通过其特异性受体（IL-6-R）参与各种类型细胞的多种功能。研究人员已经提出白细胞介素6可能通过激活促肾上腺皮质激素分泌来参与神经内分泌和免疫系统之间的相互作用。IL-6刺激受体（IL-6-R）与非配体结合膜糖蛋白gp130的结合也已有报道。

纯度： 通过HPLC或SDS-PAGE测定的纯度为95％[内毒素水平：<0.1 EU/μg（LAL试验），<10 EU/ml（LAL试验）。
