文献和实验RB基因即成视网膜细胞瘤基因，为视网膜母细胞瘤易感基因，是世界上第一个被克隆和完成全序列测定的抑癌基因。RB基因转录产物约4.7kb，表达产物为928个氨基酸组成的蛋白质，分子量约105kDa，称为P105-Rb。Rb蛋白分布于核内，是一类DNA结合蛋白。Rb蛋白的磷酸化／去磷酸化是其调节细胞生长分化的主要形式，在细胞周期的G。、G1期，它表现为去磷酸化，在G。、S、M期则处于磷酸化状态。
