Chemokines are small chemoattractant protein molcules and are subdivided into families CC, CXC, or CX3C.Chemokines exert their action via binding to corresponding chemokine receptors, which are G protein–coupled receptors and share several structural features. CCR1 binds chemokines auch as CCL3, CCL5, CCL7, and CCL14 as ligands. Expression of CCR1 is found on macrophages, natural killer cells, T cells, DC, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils, where regulated CCR1 expression can be achieved by molecules such as IL2 and TGF-β2.
