Background
Xylanase (EC 3.2.1.8), also known as pentosanase or hemicellulase, is primarily secreted by microorganisms and catalyzes the hydrolysis of xylan. Acidic xylanase (S-ACX) is commonly found in acid-tolerant fungi, bacteria, and some molds. It holds significant application value in brewing and feed industries, effectively degrading raw material cell walls, reducing material viscosity, and promoting the release and absorption of nutrients.
Assay Principle
This kit is based on a colorimetric reaction principle. Under acidic conditions, S-ACX can degrade xylan into reducing oligosaccharides and monosaccharides. These reducing sugars react with 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid in a boiling water bath to generate a compound with a characteristic absorption peak at 540 nm. By measuring the rate of increase in absorbance, the enzymatic activity of S-ACX can be accurately calculated.
