INTRODUCTION

IFN-alpha is produced by macrophages and has antiviral activities. Interferon stimulates the production of two enzymes: protein kinase and an oligoadenylate synthetase.

DESCRIPTION

IFN-a 2b Human Recombinant produced in HEK cells is a glycosylated monomer, having a total molecular weight of 16kDa.
The IFN-a 2b is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.

FORMULATION

The IFN-a 2b was lyophilized from 1mg/ml in 1xPBS.

SOLUBILITY

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized IFN-a 2b in sterile water not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

STABILITY

Lyophilized IFN-a 2b although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution IFN-a 2b should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

PURITY

Greater than 95% as obsereved by SDS-PAGE.

BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

The specific activity was determined by the dose-dependent cytotoxicity of the human TF-1 cell line (human erythroleukemic indicator cell line) and is typically 0.02-0.08ng/ml.
