    Neisseria gonorrhoeae also known as gonococcus is a Gram-negative bacterium that mechanically plays an integral role in facilitating infections particularly in mucous membranes. This pathogen has a mass of approximately 1.0 giga daltons. Gonococcus is expressed in the extracellular regions of human host tissues primarily in the urogenital tract. It uses specialized pili to adhere to epithelial cells helping it colonize and invade host tissues making it an efficient pathogen for transmission and infection./ Biological function summary/ Neisseria gonorrhoeae employs its numerous surface proteins to engage the host's defense mechanisms.
