Mouse anti PRKRA antibody recognizes interferon-inducible double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase activator A, also known as PACT and RAX.
PRKRA is a double-stranded RNA binding protein that plays a role in the innate immune response to viral infection (Iwamura et al. 2001). In the host-influenza A interaction, the antiviral activity of PRKRA comes from its ability to inhibit viral polymerase (Chan et al. 2018). A specific mutation in PRKRA is a risk factor for dystonia (Camargos et al. 2008). PRKRA activates PKR (Patel and Sen 1998), and PKR modulation has been suggested as an antitumor strategy due to its effects on apoptosis and proliferation (Xu et al. 2012).
