Rabbit anti human ELK-1 antibody recognizes ETS domain-containing protein ELK-1.
ELK-1 is a protein that functions as a transcription activator. ELK-1 is a member of a subclass of the ETS family known as ternary complex factors (TCFs). TCFs are characterized by a common protein domain that regulates DNA binding to target sequences (Zinck et al. 1993). In non-neuronal cells, ELK-1 is expressed in the nucleus. However, in mature neurons ELK-1 is present in the cytoplasm as well as the nucleus and plays a crucial role in a number of neurological processes, including the formation of long-term memory and drug addiction. ELK-1 expression has been implicated in a number of diseases, including Down syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease and depression (Besnard et al. 2011).

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
