Full length and shorter isoforms have been shown either to induce apoptosis or to reduce TNFRSF-triggered apoptosis. Lacks enzymatic (caspase) activity. |

However, the encoded protein lacks caspase activity and appears to be itself cleaved into two peptides by caspase-8.
