CD32, also known as Fcγ receptor II (FcγRII), is a type of Fc receptor found on the surface of various immune cells, including B cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils. It plays a key role in the immune response by binding to the Fc region of IgG antibodies. There are different isoforms of CD32, including CD32a and CD32b, each with distinct functions in immune regulation. CD32 is involved in several important immune functions, such as antibody-mediated phagocytosis, immune complex clearance, and modulation of immune cell activation. It plays a significant role in regulating inflammation, as it can both activate and inhibit immune responses depending on the isoform and cellular context. Additionally, CD32 is implicated in the immune evasion of certain pathogens and the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases.
