| In Vitro | Zidovudine(ZDV) could effectively inhibit HIV-1 infection in macrophages，with EC90s below concentrations known to be achievable in the cerebral spinal fluid(CSF). ZDV had insufficient HIV-1 inhibitory activity in astrocytes，with EC90s 110-fold greater than achievable CSF concentrations.[1] ZDV pretreatment had potent anti-HIV-1 activity in the newly infected T and monocytic cells but not in chronically infected cells. [2] In vitro exposure of murine bone marrow cells to increasing concentrations of zidovudine(AZT，0.1-50 microM)had a concentration dependent suppressive effect on the growth of granulocyte-monocyte colony forming unit(CFU-GM)derived colonies.[4] |
