文献和实验Growth/differentiation factor 8(Mstn, GDF-8) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. It is expressed specifically in developing and adult skeletal muscle. It exists as a homodimer, and interacts with WFIKKN2, leading to inhibit its activity. This protein can act specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. It regulates cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues.
Construction of Recombinant Human Cytomegalovirus
The use of reverse genetics to generate recombinant viruses allows the researcher to investigate the exact functional significance of particular viral genes during the virus life cycle, by means of their deletion or modification in the viral
Microarrays for the Study of Viral Gene Expression During Human Cytomegalovirus Latent Infection
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is one of the largest known DNA viruses. It is ubiquitous, and following resolution of primary productive infection, it persists in the human host by establishing a lifelong latent infection in myeloid lineage cells
Cytomegalovirus latency depends on an interaction with hematopoietic cells in bone marrow and peripheral blood. The distribution of latent viral DNA and transcripts in these cells was investigated using methods based on polymerase chain
