Human Mucin-1 (CA15-3)

Human Mucin-1 (CA15-3), aka MUC1, is a glycoprotein with extensive O-linked glycosylation of its extracellular domain. This protein has alpha and beta subunits that form a heterodimeric complex. The N-terminal alpha subunit roles in cell-adhesion and the C-terminal beta subunit is involved in cell signaling. Mucins line the API-CAl surface of epithelial cells in the stomach, lungs, intestines, eyes and other tissues. Mucins protect the body from infection by pathogen binding to oligosaccharides in the extracellular domain, preventing the pathogen from reaching the cell surface. Overexpression of CA15-3 is often associated with colon, breast, ovarian, lung and pancreatic cancers. 

The Human Mucin-1 (CA15-3) is having a molecular mass of approximately 400kDa,
and was purified from human carcinoma cell line.

MUC1 is supplied in a 0.05M sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.5, 0.09% NaN3 and 0.15M NaCl.

Human MUC1 although stable at 4°C for 1 week, should be stored at -20°C.

Tissue sample tested and found negative for HIV-1 & 2 antibodies, HBsAg, and Hepatitis-C antibodies, Syphilis and HIV/HBV/HCV (PCR).
