Albumin from porcine serum (PSA) contains two tryptophan residues and amino Terminal Cu(II)- and Ni(II)-binding (ATCUN) motif with histidine-3 substituted by tyrosine-3 compared to human serum albumin.[1]

Albumin from porcine serum has been used in binding studies with:

• Oxovanadium(IV)-O²⁺ complexes using circular dichroism (CD) and electron paramagnetic resonance studies[1]
• magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents, B229563 and MS-325 anion[2]
• ovine pregnancy-associated glycoprotein(PAG) radioimmunoassay (RIA) validation assay[3]

Albumin from porcine serum (PSA) possesses foaming property and is an emulsifier.[4] It is classified as an allergen[5] and used in the preparation of molecularly imprinted nanogels for PSA detection on meat.
