白细胞介素 18(IL-18)，也被称为干扰素γ诱导因子(IGIF)和 IL-1r，
是一种与 IL-12 具有生物学活性的细胞因子，并且与 IL-1 家族的蛋白质
具有结构相似性。IL-18 最初是从肝细胞中克隆出来的，后来被证明是
由单核细胞/巨噬细胞、成骨细胞和角质形成细胞表达的。半胱氨酸天冬
氨酸蛋白酶-1(IL-1β 转换酶)参与了从 IL-18 前体到 IL-18 的生理过程。
与 IL-12 相似，发现 IL-18 选择性地增强 FasL 介导的 Th1 细胞的细胞毒
性，但不增强 Th0 或 Th2 细胞的细胞毒性。IL-18 也被证明可以诱导活
化的 B 细胞产生抑制 IgE 产生的 IFN-r。
