血清通常用作细胞生长的添加物，拥有多种功能和用途，如:富含大分子蛋白，低分子量的营养素，作为氨基酸、碳水化合物、维生素的额外来源；提高介质的缓冲能力；可结合或中和有毒成分；减少细胞氧化应激，减少细胞凋亡；提供促进生长的因子，有助细胞适应环境。建议培养细胞前，提前进行筛选。
【适用范围】适用于培养各种癌细胞株，人类胚胎肾细胞，白血病细胞，上皮细胞，成纤维细胞，黑色素瘤细胞，巨噬细胞等，以及部分原代细胞等娇贵细胞培养。
