GFAP（神经胶质纤维酸性蛋白）是一种中间丝蛋白，分子量约为50kDa。在中枢神经系统中，GFAP在星形胶质细胞和室管膜细胞中表达，而在其他胶质细胞中则无表达。然而，在某些不成熟的少突胶质细胞、脉络丛细胞中也可能有表达。在外周神经系统中，肠道Schwann细胞以及感觉神经节的卫星细胞中也有GFAP的表达。除神经系统外，GFAP还在肌上皮细胞和软骨细胞中表达。在肿瘤组织中，星形细胞瘤、室管膜瘤、恶性胶质瘤、少突细胞瘤和Schwann细胞瘤都表现为GFAP+。多数情况下，软骨瘤、软骨肉瘤以及多形性腺瘤也表现为GFAP阳性。该标记主要用于鉴别神经胶质瘤和转移癌。
