背景资料：This gene is a member of the Ig superfamily and encodes acell surface sialoglycoprotein expressed by cytokine-activatedendothelium. This type I membrane protein mediatesleukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion and signal transduction, andmay play a role in the development of artherosclerosis andrheumatoid arthritis. Two alternatively spliced transcriptsencoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
