半胱氨酸是硫的主要生物来源,也是两种常见的含硫氨基酸之一。半胱氨酸的生物合成是通过半胱氨酸和丝氨酸通过胱硫醚合酶的初始缩合形成胱硫醚,胱硫醚又被胱硫醚酶切割产生半胱氨酸和a-酮丁酸。半胱氨酸可以通过硫醇侧链残基的氧化容易地二聚化形成胱氨酸,从而形成二硫键共价键。蛋白质中半胱氨酸残基之间形成这种胱氨酸连接是蛋白质三维结构稳定的重要组成部分。
据报道,对正常和恶性细胞中半胱氨酸和胱氨酸水平与g-胱硫醚水平以及肿瘤对L-半胱氨酸和胱胺酸耗竭的敏感性的关系进行了研究。研究了人神经元细胞系对半胱氨酸及其代谢产物的毒性。半胱氨酸可以抑制卵磷脂胆固醇酰基转移酶等酶的活性。

Cysteine is the main biological source of sulfur and one of the two common sulfur-containing amino acids. The biosynthesis of cysteine is achieved through the initial condensation of cysteine and serine to form cysteine sulfide, which is then cleaved by cysteine synthase to produce cysteine and a-ketobutyrate. Cysteine can easily dimerize to form cysteine through the oxidation of thiol side chain residues, thereby forming disulfide covalent bonds. The formation of cysteine connections between cysteine residues in proteins is an important component of the three-dimensional structural stability of proteins.
According to reports, the relationship between cysteine and cysteine levels in normal and malignant cells and g-cysteine levels, as well as the sensitivity of tumors to L-cysteine and cysteine depletion, has been studied. Studied the toxicity of human neuronal cell lines to cysteine and its metabolites. Cysteine can inhibit the activity of enzymes such as phospholipid cholesterol acyltransferase.
A protocol for studying protein expression of inducible promoters using cysteine in pulse pursuit experiments has been reported.
