血清中含量最少，发现最晚的一种抗体，仅占血清中免疫球蛋白总含量的0.001％。这类免疫球蛋白的构形与IgG相似，不耐热，56℃30分钟可灭活。由鼻咽、扁桃体、支气管、胃肠道粘膜等处固有层的浆细胞产生，一般分布在血管外，正常血清中很少。是亲细胞抗体，能与血液中的嗜碱性粒细胞、组织中的肥大细胞结合，导致I型变态反应的发生。骨髓瘤、肝脏疾病、慢性寄生虫病或细菌感染，以及自身免疫病患者，体内IgE含量增加。
