文献和实验一种植物激素。化学名为 3-甲基 -5（ 1＇ -羟基 -4＇氧 -2＇ 6＇ 6＇ -三甲基 -2＇ -环己烯 -1＇基）－ 2顺 -4反 -戊二烯酸。分子中具有 1个不对称碳原子，故有 2个旋光异构体。植物体中产生的主要为右旋，具生物活性。人工合成的为右及左旋异构体等量的混合物，左旋者亦具有某些生物效应。极难溶于水，溶于碱性溶液、乙醇、甲醇、丙酮、乙酸乙酯等。在酸性条件下失去活性。具有抑制根和茎生长、种子萌发和芽的开放，促进树木芽休眠、叶衰老以及气孔快速关闭等生理效应
