，主要是猫白血病病毒（ Feline leukemixvirus， FeLV）。有的毒株不仅能使原来的寄主动物发生白血病，还可引起不同种类的动物发病。同时，它和具有共同寄主的肉瘤病毒关系密切，其中的缺陷毒株（不完全病毒）可作为疱疹病毒起作用，而完全型肉瘤病毒能制备基因重组体。在同种病毒中，也有的以内在病毒的形式，处于整合到正常动物基因中的状态，并通过生殖细胞一代代传递下去。
